Description
Synchronize theater performance with real-time language translation
Translations done in real-time are usually on a delay since the translator must first listen to the incoming information and then translate it into the new language. To speed up this process and make the performances at the Lviv Puppet Theater entertaining regardless of a listener’s language, SoftServe IT Academy students from Kyiv and Lviv built a unique software solution.
The finished program not only translates performances into numerous languages but does so in sync with the performance taking place on stage, meaning visitors will hear the show’s translated lines in actual real-time.
This solution works first by a user downloading prepared audio files with the translated performance audio to their phone. Then during the live event, an on-site operator syncs this audio playback with the action taking place on stage and triggers the translated audio to play on the audience’s mobile devices.
Most recently, this program led to the Lviv Puppet Theater being one of the 2020 "French Autumn" festival venues with performances translated into French.
